Maintenance work on the metro in the summer: partial closures on the L4 and L11

12/06/2025 - 13:37 h

Mobility. The L4 metro line will only be working from La Pau to Verdaguer from 25 June to 31 August, and from La Pau to Maragall during the first week of September.

The L4 metro line will only be operating from La Pau to Verdaguer between 25 June and 31 August and from La Pau to Maragall during the first week of September. Elsewhere, the L11 will be operating a shorter route, from Can Cuiàs to Casa de l’Aigua. The work involves an investment of 20 million euros and is needed to strengthen the safety and reliability of these lines.

Six kilometres of track will be renewed in a section which is now at the end of its useful life, including replacing ballast with concrete. The improvements should solve isolated vibration issues, enhancing passenger comfort and the quality of travel. The change will make for more lasting and efficient maintenance, with the work also being used to execute a new ventilation shaft between Maragall and Llucmajor.

Metro network as the best transport alternative

The L3 and L5 metro lines cover the affected section and offer the ideal alternative during the closure. Even so, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona will be laying on a special bus service to cover the same section of the line where work is being carried out, with vehicles every four minutes from Verdaguer to Casa de l’Aigua. For people with reduced mobility, a shuttle service will be in place between Girona and Verdaguer.

Information staff will be operating at the affected stations to resolve users’ doubts and hand out information leaflets on the changes to mobility. Passengers can also play their journeys using the Getting there page.
