The Ministry of Science and Innovation, following the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023, has approved the regulatory bases for public aid for projects in strategic lines to finance and promote industrial research plans between companies and organisations, aimed at projects both in the scientific field and in the field of technological development and innovation.

The deadline for submitting applications for aid opened on 14 June 2022 and will end on 5 July 2022 at 14 pm. The maximum amount earmarked for funding under this call is €70,000,000, of which €35,000,000 in the form of a grant and the remaining €35,000,000 in the form of a loan. As regards the amount of funding per project, the minimum budget will be €400,000 and the maximum €2,000,000.

Public research bodies; public universities and their university institutes; accredited health research institutes; other public R&D&I centres with their own legal personality; state-level technology centres and state-level technological innovation support centres; private universities with proven R&D&I capacity; companies; sectoral business associations; and agricultural or food R&D&I centres dependent on the autonomous communities will be eligible for subsidies.

Projects and subsidies

In order to be eligible for the subsidy, the themes of the projects must be related to the priorities (topics) listed in Annex II of Order CIN/533/2022. Although the project may be considered to be of a transversal nature, it must be specified in which of the available options on the list the application falls within. The project, which will have a duration of three years, must involve the participation of at least two entities, one of which must be a public or private research organisation and the other a company.

The subsidies may take the form of grants, loans, repayable advances or a combination of these, and may be awarded on an annual or multi-annual basis. The aid will be compatible with other grants or previous aid from public or private administrations.

Applications

To submit the application and all the required documentation, entities must do so through the electronic means of the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. All entities will have to register in the System of Entities of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, prior to the presentation of the aid.
